SO this is a little blurb just to catch people up. Nothing tooo informative. No new lessons today. I'm reading my books that's about it. I'm really liking Stop Acting It's very informative so far I'll be getting into more details later when I get futher along. But my focus now is finding a good monologue. I'm preferable to more dramatic roles (the more emotional the better) this seems to be my nitch. Though I'm really enjoying to comedic lines it's always fun to make people laugh. In fact my mother is sooooo happy that I'm not going to be a stand up comedian. Thought about it but I love to act better. LOL
I'm looking into getting new headshots. the ones I have suck (since my friend took them) I haven't scanned them in yet. The one below is NOT it!!!!! BTW but since I'm trying to loose some more chunk (hahaha)I might wait a few months there SO expensive, butI don't know we'll see. anyone know any good photographers in the bay area thats not 1500 dollars!?

A new day a new Lesson
"When I was seventeen, I walked into the jungle. And by twenty-one, I walked out. And by God, I was rich!" Uncle Ben~ Death of a Salesman: Arthur Miller
Today's lesson was about reacting and creating a scene. Okay so this exercise sounds easy enough but let me tell you it was a little tricky. It was an improve assignment for 4 actors to go on stage and create a scene without words. We each had different letters and #'s we had to use as text. Which for be me being dyslexic was a really hard task that actually the creating of the scene wasn't as hard but to remember which letter I was on and which one came next. I had U-Z again doesn't sound hard but believe when your up there you'll realize it. And yes I do know my letters I'm not an Idiot. LOL Well maybe sometimes but believe me I won't be announcing that to the auditors! HAHA
Alright I know this is going to sound a little crazy and maybe a little weird but I noticed when I act I don't think about what I'm doing or even saying I just react and hope for the best. HAHA. I'm not sure it's a bad thing or a good one. The only bad thing I can see about this is that I don’t know if my performance is good or not. Hopefully it is, but I'm a little worried about me developing a bad habit. Anyone know? This is a little perplexing to me! Yikes.

My new learnings!
"Why don't you make like a tree, and get the f.f.f.f.. uck outta here!" Doc- Boondock Saints
I know this isn't a very thought provoking quote but I think it' s amusing.
So today I learned a lot about capturing and portraying emotion and whether it's easier as an actor to be empathetic to the character your embodying or to develop your own emotion. This way you can layer yourself over the character. I believe this is an American way of acting someone called it method acting .I'm not quite sure which is the best way to go for me as an actor. But I'm a very empathetic person so I think I will be able to capture emotion just by "feeling" for the character. This is going to be very useful for my monologue, which I've been looking into. I really want to do an emotional piece. I'm not sure which one yet any suggestions?
I also bought some awesome books today!
Audition: by Michael Shurtleff.
This ones a book required for my class. But the crazy thing is I already had it, but the info makes way more sense when you are actually implementing the principals and actually getting explanations from class lessons.
The Power of the Actor: The Chubbuck Technique. By Ivana Chubbuck
It’s an L.A Times Best Seller; I hope this is a good one!
How to be a Working Actor: The insiders guide to finding jobs in Theater, Film and Television. By Meri Lyn Henry and Lynne Rogers.
Okay I know I’m a little ahead of myself but It talks a lot about auditions and other insider info from agents to unions it’s very informative.
How to Stop Acting: By Harold Guskin
This one’s my FAVORITE. Written by Glenn Close’s and Chris Kline’s
Acting coach and he discusses how to react to lines instead of reciting. Now this sounds like a “duh” concept. But he goes in depth with his tips, tricks and methods.
Hopefully these books are going to benefit my acting and if anyone has any other books or reading to suggest I would GREATLY appreciate them

FYI I'm going to start each blog entry with a quote from a play, movie, TV show or anything else I think to be appropriate for the day or at least find amusing.
Alrighty now to the fun stuff!
I'll be the first to tell you that although I have always loved acting and performing arts all my short existence. I have to say that I'm getting more and more shocked at all the things I DIDN'T know. With that said I in NO way believed I knew everything there is to know on theater and performance. But I did think I was alot more knowledgeable than I am. This to me rather than being a turn off or discouragement is quite the contrary but is actually igniting my love and Okay I'll say it passion. Hahaha. When I get more talented I'll get to use the word CRAFT.LOL
To be more precise on what I DIDN'T know was the detail slight to heavy movements and action and reaction those sorts of things. I know these things sound and little "DUH" I know that well maybe you did but I didn't and I really get excited to learn more!

Personal Note #1
YAY! this is my first Blog entry.
Okay,
Before I get way deep into this blog I just wanted to share with everyone a few things and answer a few crazy questions you maybe asking yourself like. 1) what the hell this blog is about. 2) why the hell I'm writing a blog 3) And why the hell should you read this
alright so those maybe the questions I made up but it sounded really cool typed and I need some sort of intro into this thing. Hooks seem to be my downfall:(
Anyways this blog is just a little journal/notepad Blurb if you will of my learnings and observations this Semester as a beginning theater student. Any constructive comments and tips would be GREATLY apreciated!
